Timothy "Lance" Timmsen

The Owner and President of the company, Timothy “Lance” Timmsen, has over 28 years of experience in the security industry where he began his career managing a team of designers and drafters whose focus was on physical and electronic security systems for various facility types of all levels of security. After six years of managing a team of professionals in the industry, he moved on to spend his next ten years working for a globally recognized leader in the industry with a sole focus on security electronic system design and consulting. He then partnered with a co-worker to start up Next Generation Security, a security design and engineering firm, where he worked for five years before branching out to start up his own company, Security Design Consulting, LLC.

Lance has spent his career assisting clients in understanding and evaluating relevant, cost appropriate and effective security electronic solutions best suited for the needs of their facilities. His extensive experience and background include project management, design, scheduling, resource allocation, project delivery, risk management, estimating and project controls for multiple projects at varying levels of construction. His background includes a wide variety of civilian, military, and industry training, education, and experience.

He has a BS/BA in Project Management and an AAS in Computer Aided Design. He was a Captain in the US Army Corps of Engineers where he graduated from the US Army Officer Engineering School and was certified for several courses, to include Quality Management for Construction, Antiterrorism and Force Protection Course, Physical Security Engineering and Electronics Security Systems Design. As an Officer, Project Engineer and acting Chief of Operations with the Army Corps of Engineers, he developed a large knowledge base of physical and electronic security requirements for the military. Lance’s background, education, and experience provide the skills and knowledge necessary to make SDC a leading Security Design Consulting Firm in the industry.
